Enneagram Basics for Educators: An Online Course
We’re all busy, and sometimes exhausted, overwhelmed, and stressed. There is so much to do that it is easy to get lost in the thick of it all. Have you ever wondered how you could sort through all of the things coming at you, and find a way to achieve a more balanced life?
The Enneagram is a tool that will help you understand behavior patterns, motivations, and fears of yourself and others. It will help you sort through what you need, and what you should be doing based on your individual patterns.
When you finally understand why you do the things you do, and what it is you really want and need, you can get out of your own way and do the right things, reducing your stress and overwhelm in the process. The Enneagram helps you to live with more intention, eliminating things that don’t serve you while helping you to recognize what you need to thrive.
Once you understand the patterns, you will also understand why students don’t do what you tell them to do and what we can do to increase their intrinsic motivation. You can even use behavioral patterns to understand ways to reduce behavioral issues and reduce the effects of trauma.
Wouldn’t that be amazing?
We love the Enneagram and have found it useful in all areas of our lives. We became certified Enneagram teachers and created this online course for educators to help you understand and use the Enneagram. This course is ideal for anyone working in the field of education, with particular emphasis on teachers, administrators, or paraprofessionals.
In this course you will learn to…
- discover and understand your own patterns of behavior and motivations which uncovers your unique potential. You’ll examine ways to bring your potential into the world in a way that feels less stressful and more joyous and freeing.
- stop struggling with motivating students and understand how they are motivated.
- reduce the impact of trauma by understanding and leveraging Enneagram patterns.
- recognize patterns of behavior in students, teaching teams, and even in your loved ones to finally understand why people do what they do-and to use this knowledge in order to strengthen relationships and influence positive behaviors.
- create a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages each student to flourish and allows for strong staff teams that foster growth.
- recognize the unique gifts and challenges of your students and others and use that knowledge to help bring their potential to life.

What is the Enneagram?
The Enneagram is a psychological map of the human personality. We all have patterns of behavior, the Enneagram helps you recognize and understand those behavioral patterns.
At its best, the Enneagram is a tool that can lead you to self -awareness. You can learn to recognize patterns in your own behavior, and understand how those patterns play out in your personal life, your relationships, and in your work. You can learn to change the patterns that aren’t serving you well. You can, in a sense, learn to get out of your own way. This can open up a path for you to become your best, truest self.
The Enneagram can be applied to all areas of your life. It can help you understand your communication styles, how you interact in relationships, basic fears and desires, how you lead, and even how and why you are motivated.
We can also use the Enneagram to understand others.
The Enneagram will help you understand human motivations, which is extraordinarily helpful in working with students. You will likely learn to see students in a new way, which helps you understand them better and understand why they do the things they do. The insight we gain from the Enneagram can help us improve how we relate to others. It can help us to walk through the world with a stronger sense of compassion and empathy.
The Enneagram does not assume that personality is fixed or permanent. The Enneagram, unlike many other personality assessments or tools, invites us to grow and change. It’s like a road map, it shows us where we are at the moment, and it gives us a plan for where we can go.

Are you ready to learn more about using the Enneagram to understand why people do the things they do in a whole new way? Do you want to know what makes people tick and how to recognize and help fulfill potential in yourself and others?
“The expectations people hold of us often become self-fulfilling prophecies. When others believe in our potential, they give us a ladder. They elevate our aspirations and enable us to reach higher peaks. Dozens of experiments show that at work, when leaders hold high expectations, employees generally work harder, learn more, and perform better. In schools, when teachers set high expectations, students get smarter and earn higher grades- especially if they start out with disadvantages.”
